P3 Opportunity in Uganda

The Rev. Frederick Musisi Masengere, Priest, Bweyogerere Parish, Namirembe Diocese, Anglican Church of the Province of Uganda would like to establish a Parish to Parish Partnership (P3) with one or more parishes in the Diocese of South Carolina.

Fr. Frederick prayerfully requests support in three areas:

  • The youth of his parish need vocational training as electricians, brick masons, computer operators, etc. in order to earn a living wage.
  • A photocopier to support production of Sunday School materials for the seven sub-churches over which Fr. Frederick has pastoral responsibility (St. Luke, St. John’s Kirinya, St. John’s Kazinga, St. Kakumba, St. James at Bukasa, St. Mark Bbuto, and St. Apollo at Bweyogerere trading center.)
  • A motorbike to help Fr. Frederick travel to each church.

Each of these churches is a distance from one another. In each, the youth form the majority of congregants. Many of the church buildings and houses for lay readers are being renovated. Each church is supervised by a lay reader and a Church Council of Wardens. It is Fr. Frederick’s responsibility as parish priest to visit them to administer Holy Communion, perform baptisms, preach, pray for the sick and aged, and officiating at weddings. He also administers many of the schools in the parish.

Fr. Frederick is married to Immaculate who is a primary school teacher and they are blessed with four children Stephen, Samuel, Emmanuel, and Jemimah. They foster one youth Isaac Mutebi. Fr. Frederick holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Planning and Administration, Bachelor’s Degree in Education, diploma in Business Administration, and diploma in Theology. He has served the Anglican Church for 12 years in both rural and urban parishes.

The greatest challenge facing Fr. Frederick’s parish is that youth are vulnerable because they cannot acquire skills which could help them earn a living wage and live a better life. Many of the congregations live in poverty as peasants, without jobs; and others are aged and sick. Diabetes plagues many. Training the youth is a very good way to grow the future church. They are energetic and equipped with a skill they will be able to economically help others in their families who are aged, sick, and unemployed.

Please contact Fr. Frederick via email at bweyparishcou@hotmail.com or telephone at 0000256 77 9 363096 or by writing to The Rev. Frederick M. Masengere, PO Box 25536 Kampala, Uganda, East Africa. Fr. Frederick has been in contact with Ed Dyckman, Chair, Department of Social Ministries, Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina and Ed (843-367-5647) can provide in formation about P3 in general and Fr. Frederick in particular.
