St. John's Episcopal Chapel, Charleston

St. John's Chapel needs your help.
St. John's Chapel is building for the future of East Charleston.

Volunteers Needed

St. John's Episcopal Chapel, Charleston needs volunteers to work within the African American Family Center for Biblical Dialogue program, entitled What Are Little Girls Made Of? The children's ages range from 6 months to 3 years, 4 years to 7 years, and 8 years to 12 years.

The Chapel doesn't wish to seem exclusionary, but they need mostly women for this undertaking, including: House Wives, Pediatricians, OBG/YN, Medical Practitioners, Dentists, Lawyers, Curriculum Developers, and Retired Folk, e.g., Grandmas etc. with or without specific skills.

The Chapel adopted two 1st grade classes consisting of 26 six-year olds. There are five failing elementary schools within the 1.4 square miles of East Charleston, which is a Federally-designated Enterprise Renewal Community (ERC).

Janie Wilson, President and Chief Operations Officer says "We off and running!" To help, please email Sister Janie or call her at 843-830-0993; the Chapel office at 843-720-3600 x101; or email Lynda Frenchie Richards, Chair and Chief Executive Officer or call her at 843-720-3600 x102.

If you have construction experience, journeymen, laypersons, or are a Priest who can hold a hammer and is willing to work on this historically significant building please contact the folks above.

Please email Howard Rambo or call him at 843-810-1976 to discuss technical issues concerning the work.

Almighty and most merciful God, grant that by the indwelling of your Holy Spirit we may be enlightened and strengthened for your service; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
