Learning Life Skills and Discerning Call to Ministry and Mission
Education ministries benefit youth and adults. They provide a safe, clean environment, especially in or near communities at risk due to violence and drugs, and teach youth and adults life skills. Life skills education ministries include: - Providing children with after-school activities, homework assistance, tutoring, and snacks; teaching them social skills, e.g., self esteem, respect for one another, and how to say "no" to drugs and alcohol;
- Teaching pregnant teenagers about nutritional needs, providing them food, and purchasing baby food, clothes, and a crib.
- Teaching teenage parents (or parents-to-be) how to be positive role models for their children, budgeting, and consumer awareness.
- Providing meeting space for different 12-step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous.
- Conducting "English as a Second Language (ESL)" programs for Hispanic and other foreign-born people.
