More than 150 South Carolina churches belong to the North American Division of the Seventh Day Adventists, Churches of Christ, Church of Christ, Scientist, Religious Society of Friends, Mennonite Church, and United Church of Christ.

These churches represent a rich cross-section of social ministry activities. Adventists support a network of clinics and hospitals; Churches of Christ maintain an Emergency Broadcast Network to alert people about natural disasters; Christian Scientists come to the aid of victims of poverty, social oppression, and natural disaster exclusively through prayer; Friends and Mennonites help the suffering and the needy in and near their communities; and United Church of Christ churches are active in disaster relief and ministries around the globe.
