Organizations such as the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina are among the umbrella Baptist organizations fostering volunteer work in cooperation with 43 local Baptist associations and more than 1,000 Baptist congregations statewide.

South Carolina Baptists have a heart for mission serving and loving people in the name of Christ. South Carolina Baptist churches send volunteer missionaries throughout the nation and the world, and have been involved in mission work in South Carolina. State missions include volunteer social ministry work with the disabled, prisoners, migrant workers, the illiterate, truckers, and seafarers; housing for the poor; sports outreach; and hunger relief.
